Unapologetically a Beachcomber
There I was looking out the frosty window and wishing to be somewhere else... somewhere where the sun kisses my back and the soft white sand filters through my toes. Then it clicked... I didn't need to feel the cold frosty bite of winter! I made a few calls and my travel agent had Bill and me packed and ready for an adventure of a lifetime. We decided an African adventure was exactly what we needed!
We weren't big on a safari and wanted a different experience in Africa and fell in love with the idea of exploring the Winelands and playing golf... yes… yes, we are "those people"... hahahahaha! We kicked off our stay with 4 nights at an exclusive hotel that had access to a vineyard, a golf course, PLUS a spa... that was pure heaven. We ate and drank like royalty whilst working on our suntans. It was exactly how I envisaged my dream holiday.
Our Cape Town trip was the tip of the "sunray". Soon, we were on a flight to Johannesburg, followed by a helicopter flight to the magical Sun City where we enjoyed the casino, golf and activities for 3 nights stay. We did a hot-air balloon ride over the Pilanesberg Game Reserve which definitely made a huge impact on our stay. It was exhilarating to say the least.
On our way back to OR Tambo International Airport, we flew over the city of Johannesburg and were amazed at the vastness of this city called Egoli. We were happy to have flown as we wanted to spend less time in a car and more time on our holiday. Before we knew it, we were travelling to the magical island of Mauritius! We were greeted with the biggest smiles at immigration and followed warmly by our driver to the resort. Now when I close my eyes and take myself back to that first time I dreamt of being on the other side of the world, with sand and sun kisses... I now have a photo of myself in that very moment on the beach. We spent 7 nights of pure bliss on an island where we lost all the stress from our busy lives and where I was convinced I could become a professional saga dancer (even with my two left feet) 😊. We totally and unapologetically splurged on a once in a lifetime trip that will forever be edged on our souls. Now I just need to get Bill to commit to a safari for our next trip because we are definitely coming back!
