Our Experience
An iconic experience from rail travel to thunderous waterfalls and a bit of roaring in between.
South Africa is a first-choice honeymoon destination for most couples and it's really easy to see why. With choices from the Cape vineyards to magical mountain escapes. From long walks alongside the warm Indian Ocean and ending with the most romantic safari sunsets that no imagination could conceive... Southern Africa had a proven recipe for the most romantic honeymoon escape that leaves you in awe at every destination. It was a no-brainer!
With our wedding wrapped up, bags packed and passports in hand, we were off on our romantic honeymoon rendezvous.
Arriving in Cape Town was magical as the "blanket" of clouds draped over Table Mountain created the perfect welcome setting. Our chauffeur drove us to our hotel where we stayed for the next three magical nights. We loved that our chauffeur was a driver guide too, so we had the flexibility of where and when we wanted to travel. We did all sorts of amazing things, from a helicopter fly-over city experience to tasting lots of delicious South African wines in Franschhoek. We opted to stay in Cape Town as our base, and travel the surrounding areas each day if we wanted to. Cape Town itself was abuzz with wining and dining entertainment. It was clear why Cape Town is South Africa's iconic Mother City.
Before we knew it, it was time to leave the Cape and fly to Johannesburg and then road transfer to Pretoria Station just in time to board the world's most luxurious train, Rovos Rail, heading to Victoria Falls. Our iconic train journey took three nights to arrive at Victoria Falls, as we snaked our way passed jaw-dropping sights. Our chauffeur was waiting at the station ready to transport us to our hotel in Victoria Falls for the night. That afternoon, we did a helicopter flip over The Musi-O-Tunya... that was AWESOME!
The next morning, we were off to the Namibian Border for our iconic floating river experience on the Chobe Princess for 3 nights. We glided on the Chobe River that was buzzing with activity as we watched herds of elephant drinking and playing on the water's edge. The water was full of pods of hippo and basks of crocodiles. We had the most amazing sunsets, and our favourite sound was the call of fish eagles... this has to be the most special sound in the world.
After this incredible experience, we departed for Kasane Airport, and arrived in time for our charter flight to the iconic Okavango Delta. We spent the next 3 nights in the heart of what can easily be described as Eden. The romantic allure of a mokoro ride on waterways filled with crocodiles, hippos and swimming elephants ignited a flame in our souls. The stars that illuminated our night paths seem to dance on the earth, as lions roared in the background. This was what "SAFARI" truly means!
We left in love with Africa and forged amazing relationships with all the people we met. This trip was nothing short of an incredible Africa showcase of the beauty of creation.
