Our Experience:

A honeymoon that will bring us back for many years to come  

We were planning our honeymoon and decided to do something completely different. We wanted a stand-out destination and intended to return for our first wedding anniversary. After consulting with our travel agent, Martha, we decided that a trip to South Africa would be the perfect choice, and we created a honeymoon designed to blow Brian's socks off!
     
Our honeymoon began with the most romantic settings in the Western Cape. We leisurely explored the area and booked a scenic helicopter flight over the entire peninsula, wine tasting and pairings in various cellars, and enjoyed the romantic sunsets of the Cape.
After Cape Town, we moved on to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Brian has a passion for the sea and booked an open-ocean diving experience at a world-renowned site as a treat. Our greatest memory was sitting on a boat in the warm Indian Ocean, in absolute awe after diving with what seemed like 100 ragged-tooth sharks in the famous Aliwal Shoal. With adrenaline still coursing through our veins from diving in the open waters, the feeling of being a guest in an entirely new world was overwhelming. While processing our diving experience on our boat ride back, a huge humpback whale breached close to our boat, and we were drenched from the water spray. That experience has left an indelible imprint on my heart.   

We travelled to Zululand (the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal) and stayed in a Big 5 private game lodge for our safari experience. This was our first safari experience, and we were blown away. We chose to do our safari in this area because of the unique combination of sea and safari. We experienced the Zulu culture and can honestly say that we left our hearts back there.

It is safe to say that South Africa was the BEST CHOICE for our honeymoon and the perfect destination to return to for our first anniversary. With so much more to explore in South Africa, our return plans are in full swing!

- This tour was fully guided. It can also be tailored to a self-dive option.
- Diving in Aliway Shoal is suitable for all skill levels.
- The recommended time of year to travel for this itinerary is during winter: June to August for visibility &
   marine migrations... AND CHEAPER PRICES.
- Self-driving is also an option in Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal, if you prefer. The roads are easy to drive on.
